Biography
Pat Hawkins is Program Director of Homebuyer Counseling & Financial Education for Episcopal Community Development, Inc. (ECD), a non-profit HUD-approved housing counseling agency in Newark, NJ. A graduate of Wellesley College with a major in psychology, she also holds advanced degrees in ministry and theology. She is a NeighborWorks certified Housing Counselor, a MoneySmart Trainer and a member of the HUD HECM Network of Reverse Mortgage Counselors. Since joining ECD in 2000, Pat has designed and implemented a First-time Homebuyer Training program which has graduated over 750 potential homebuyers. She has presented workshops on financial literacy to groups as varied as mothers of children in a local nursery school, youth attending middle and high school retreats, Episcopal Urban Caucus youth representatives and Hudson County Community College students. The primary focus of her training courses and individual counseling is on avoiding financial predators.
