Health & Fitness: Swimsuit Season
It's about that time........ that's right swim suit season! Many new graduates haven't quite established their daily eating and exercising routines and may have noticed an extra bulge here or there. Sorry to say, but there is no quick fix to solve this problem. What you can do is be aware of what you are eating and how often you are exercising.
First, write down everything you eat and drink for about 3 days. Make a note of when and why you are eating. (Ex. Hungry, Bored, Social, etc.)
Second, evaluate your food intake. Are you eating lots of sweets and snacks? Drinking lots of soda? Alcohol? Juice? Do you eat large portions? Do you eat enough fruits and vegetables a day?
Third, pick one or two goals to work on to help you reach a healthy weight. Write these goals down!!! Leave on your refrigerator or somewhere you know you will see them often. For example one goal may be "I will drink one less can of soda at least 5 days out of the week." or "I will eat when I am hungry, not when I'm bored."
Last but not least, try to exercise a minimum of 30 minutes a day! You can exercise 10 minutes 3 times a day, 15 minutes 2 times a day, etc. The point is to move a TOTAL of at LEAST 30 minutes a day. Some examples of exercise include brisk walking, dancing, jump roping, walking your dog, riding a bike, jogging, climbing the stairs at your job or at home, any sort of movement that may raise your heart rate.
Results will come slowly! Remember the longer it takes to take the weight off, the longer it takes to gain back!
